PMP Exam Study App: Learn the PMBOK Guide and Exam Content Outline
The PMP is a project management certification from the Project Management Institute. The exam tests judgement in situations, drawing on predictive, agile and hybrid approaches. Type to Study turns the PMBOK Guide or your course notes into lessons, flashcards and quizzes. For scenario practice, use a reputable question bank.
What the PMP exam covers
The Project Management Professional exam is set by the Project Management Institute (PMI) and delivered on computer, at a Pearson VUE test centre or online with a proctor. The exam content outline organises questions into three domains: People, Process and Business Environment. Roughly half the questions relate to agile or hybrid approaches. Questions are mostly multiple choice, with some other formats. Eligibility depends on your education and project experience, and PMI requires you to document it. Read the current Exam Content Outline and handbook on pmi.org, since the weighting and counts have changed over time.
Why it is hard and how to prepare
The questions are situational. Several answers can look reasonable, and you must choose the one that fits PMI's approach, such as servant leadership or analysing the situation before acting. That takes a clear grasp of concepts and a lot of practice questions, not just definitions. Take practice exams under timed conditions and study each explanation.
Study the terms precisely: risk response strategies, earned value metrics, agile roles and ceremonies. Retrieval practice and spacing fit this kind of vocabulary. Then use scenario questions to practise applying it.
A plan using Type to Study
Upload the PMBOK Guide if you own it, plus your course notes. Choose the chapters for the domain you are on. Read the lesson, retype formulae like earned value in Type mode, and use the Recall pass for key terms. Flashcards will bring terms back over the weeks of your study plan.
Use typed-answer quizzes to explain, for example, how you would respond to a stakeholder conflict, then compare with the key points. Ask the AI tutor to quiz you one question at a time. Type to Study does not include PMI's exam questions, so use PMI's own resources or a trusted exam simulator for realistic scenario practice.
