A study plan tool for data analysts and aspiring analysts
Most data analysts learn the same things in the same order: SQL, a spreadsheet, a bit of Python, and enough statistics to avoid embarrassing mistakes. The hard part is not finding tutorials. It is remembering syntax and concepts a month later. Type to Study is built around that second problem.
A study plan that matches the job
A sensible first-year order is SQL first, then spreadsheets and a chart tool, then descriptive and inferential statistics, then Python or R for repeatable analysis. Build one course per area so each stays focused.
- SQL: SELECT, joins, GROUP BY, window functions, CTEs
- Statistics: distributions, confidence intervals, hypothesis tests, regression basics
- Excel: lookups, pivot tables, cleaning data
- Python: pandas, plotting, reading files
Type the syntax until you know it
Type mode puts a lesson on an index card and you type over it, with words per minute and accuracy shown. For SQL that means typing real queries, which builds the habit of getting joins and clauses right without looking them up.
The recall pass hides the key terms so you type them from memory: what a LEFT JOIN keeps, what a p-value means, what a window function does. Flashcards for every key term come back on a spaced schedule.
Study for a certification or a course
If you are working through a vendor certification or a university course, upload the official study guide or your notes as a PDF. Lessons cite the pages, and the unit quizzes and final exam mix multiple choice with typed answers graded against key points.
Check the certification provider's site for the current exam format. Type to Study does not contain their question banks, and it does not guarantee a pass.
What it does not do
It does not run your queries or give you a database to practise on. Pair it with a real SQL environment or a dataset of your own, and use Type to Study to make the concepts stick.
