An AI study tool for computer science students
Computer science degrees split into two kinds of work: writing code, which you learn by doing, and theory, which you must recall in a closed-book exam. Type to Study is for the second kind: algorithms, complexity, operating systems, networks, databases and discrete maths.
What it is good for in a CS degree
Exams ask for definitions, comparisons and traces: how does a B-tree stay balanced, what separates TCP from UDP, what does a scheduler do. Upload lecture notes or a textbook chapter, or type the topic, and get lessons with diagrams that step through the process.
- Data structures and algorithms, with complexity terms as flashcards
- Operating systems, networks and databases
- Discrete maths and theory of computation
- Software engineering and design patterns
Type code and definitions from memory
Type mode has you type over the lesson, and the recall pass hides the key terms so you type them from memory. Typing short code snippets and pseudocode from a lesson is a cheap way to get syntax and structure into memory, and it also builds typing speed, which helps in timed or computer-based exams.
Limits
It does not run code, grade programs or give you coding exercises. Write programs in an editor, and use Type to Study for the concepts around them. See our programming and computer science subject pages for more detail.
