JAMB UTME Study App: Revise Your Four Subjects with Flashcards and Quizzes
JAMB runs the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), the main entrance test for Nigerian universities and other tertiary institutions. It is a computer-based test, so both subject knowledge and comfort with a computer matter. Type to Study builds revision material from your notes and textbooks.
What JAMB UTME covers
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board conducts the UTME. Candidates normally sit four subjects: Use of English, which is compulsory, plus three subjects related to their chosen course. The test is computer-based (CBT) and mostly objective, taken at accredited centres. JAMB publishes the syllabus for each subject and the recommended texts, including the prescribed literature texts for English. Admission also depends on the institution's own cut-off and post-UTME arrangements, so check JAMB and your target institution for the current rules.
Why it is hard and how to prepare
Competition for places is high, and the test is fast. You must cover four subjects, and the questions require accurate recall under time pressure. The CBT format also means practising on screen, since reading and clicking quickly is a skill of its own.
Work from the JAMB syllabus. Revise by topic with active recall, practise past questions in a CBT-style setup, and time yourself. Review your wrong answers and see why each option was wrong. Do mock CBT sessions in the weeks before the test.
A plan using Type to Study
Upload your textbook chapters or notes for each subject, and build a course per subject. Read and retype key facts, then use flashcards to keep them in rotation over the months before the UTME. For Use of English, upload the prescribed literature text you own and build a course for plot, characters and themes, and use the AI tutor to quiz you on it.
Use the timed final exam to rehearse pacing. It is not a JAMB mock and does not use JAMB questions, so also practise official past questions and a CBT simulator. Keep sessions short and regular.
